Nominated Mombasa Senator Miraj Abdullahi has sharply criticized Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir for allegedly failing to take seriously residents’ concerns over persistent power outages in the county. The senator said it was unfortunate that the governor appeared to mock residents who are planning protests at the offices of Kenya Power and Lighting Company to demand reliable electricity services. Speaking in Mombasa , Miraj said the frequent and prolonged outages have disrupted business activities and affected residents observing the holy month of Ramadan . Residents have complained that electricity has been going off daily from around 6pm until midnight. “When residents were complaining, he did not speak out.
