Detectives from the Land Fraud Investigation Unit (LFIU) have arrested a mother and her daughter for allegedly a Ksh 40 million land fraud shcheme in Karatani. Mary Muthoni Njogu and her daughter Veronica Wambui Ng’ang’a,  were arrested  following complaint lodged by a family member. According to DCI report, the suspects had deceitfully transferred valuable parcels of family land in Karatina, estimated at approximately Sh40 million, into their own names and those of associated companies.  "Through meticulous investigations, it was uncovered that the suspects executed secret transfers from 2020 to 2023, deliberately excluding other family members from the transactions".  Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) directed that the suspects be charged with Conspiracy to defraud and fraudulent procurement of title. The two suspects were set to be arraigned at the Karatina Law Courts.

Digital taxi drivers in Mombasa have issued a three-day ultimatum to ride-hailing company Bolt to reverse recently reduced fares, warning that they will shut down the platform if their demands are not addressed. The drivers also protested the introduction of a new basic category, which they say will see customers pay as little as Ksh220 per trip. Led by Coast Digital Drivers Federation Chairman Thomas Were, the drivers said the new pricing structure is unsustainable, especially amid rising living costs, fuel expenses, vehicle maintenance costs and inflation. “Drivers are really suffering with those Bolt prices. We came here to present our memorandum and, if they ignore us, we will take action as riders to shut down their app,” Were said. Among their demands is the abolition of the basic category in the Coast region and the review and implementation of a proposed minimum pricing structure. A team of 14 riders from Starehe Boys' Centre and School has arrived in Mombasa after cycling more than 1,100 kilometres from Busia to raise funds to support the education of students at Starehe Boys and its sister school, Starehe Girls’ Centre. The cyclists undertook the 14-day charity ride dubbed “The Dr. Geoffrey Griffin Bike-A-Thon”, an initiative aimed at raising funds for the two institutions while honouring their founder, Dr. Geoffrey Griffin. The team’s Technical Director and Starehe alumnus, Ian Hicho, described the journey as challenging but rewarding. “It has been a crazy ride in everything you can think of in terms of mountains, trucks and more trucks, but we are all well and here we are in the great city of Mombasa,” Hicho said. He appealed to well-wishers to continue supporting the initiative, saying the funds raised will help provide educational opportunities for students at the two schools. Al-Shifaa Media FC have been crowned #SisiNiDola Super Cup champions, taking home the KSh1 million grand prize after beating Green Eagles 2-1 in a thrilling final played on Friday at Mombasa Sports Club. Lawrence Dady opened the scoring in the 25th minute to give Al-Shifaa the lead before the teams headed into the half-time break. Mohammed Juma doubled Al-Shifaa’s advantage in the 50th minute, putting the champions in a commanding position. Green Eagles fought back in the 75th minute when Swaleh Yanga converted a penalty to reduce the deficit, but Al-Shifaa held on to secure the title. Fayaz Bakers forward Joshua Oyoo finished as the tournament’s top scorer with five goals, while Green Eagles goalkeeper William Mandada was named the best goalkeeper. Al-Shifaa coach Nassir Hassan was named the tournament’s best coach. Green Eagles, who finished runners-up, received KSh500,000, while third-placed Azam FC pocketed KSh250,000.

A 54-year-old man has been arrested in Changamwe, Mombasa County for allegedly possessing a forged Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE). According to DCI, the suspect Awange Oscar Akoth was nabbed by detectives following investigations into the alleged forgery and use of a fraudulent KCSE certificate in connection with his employment at the Kenya Railways Corporation. His arrest comes after a two-year investigation, according to the DCI. The case came to light after Kenya Railways undertook an authentication exercise of academic and professional certificates presented by its employees. During the exercise, Akoth’s KCSE certificate, purportedly issued by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), was flagged for further scrutiny. Human rights defenders in Mombasa have demanded the arrest of people they allege were captured on camera assaulting activists and journalists during Wednesday’s chaos at the Mombasa County Assembly. A human rights defender affiliated with Vocal Africa was injured during the confrontation and rushed to Pandya Memorial Hospital for treatment. A Nation Media Group photojournalist, Karim Rajan, was also allegedly attacked while documenting youths who were attempting to access the Assembly grounds to present a memorandum. Speaking to journalists outside the hospital, the rights defenders, led by Vocal Africa chief executive officer Khalid Hussein, said the alleged attackers were known and should be arrested and investigated for assault. Detectives from the Operations Support Unit (OSU) have arrested six suspects and rescued three Indian and Pakistani nationals who had been reported missing after arriving in Kenya on August 5, 2026. The three were traced to a two-bedroom house in Ruiru’s Fort Jesus area, Kiambu County, following intelligence-led investigations into a suspected human trafficking case. According to DCI, preliminary investigations established that after being cleared at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), the trio left the airport in a taxi allegedly arranged by their receiver, who was waiting for them in Ruiru. "They were subsequently taken to the house, where they were allegedly held incommunicado" . Coast-based civil society organizations have called for an immediate investigation into allegations that Members of Parliament were bribed during the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. In a joint statement issued in Mombasa on Tuesday, the organizations urged legislators who have publicly claimed that money exchanged hands during the impeachment process to formally record statements with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and provide any evidence in their possession. The groups led by Muslims for Human Rights (MUHURI) and Haki Africa, cited recent public remarks by National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed, Senator Richard Onyonka, Senator Dan Maanzo and Senator Karungo Thangwa, saying the allegations are too serious to be dismissed as political rhetoric.
