Mvurya Assures President Ruto of Coast Support in 2027

Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya has urged Coast residents to register as voters in large numbers to secure President William Ruto a second term in the 2027 General Election.

Speaking in Miritini during the launch of classrooms constructed through the Jomvu NG-CDF, Mvurya said President Ruto's development record speaks for itself and expressed confidence that the Coast region would overwhelmingly back his re-election bid.

"This time round you must register in large numbers so that we have a stronger political voice. Those who used to dismiss our votes as few will be surprised in 2027," said Mvurya.

The CS accused the opposition of misleading the public and failing to deliver meaningful development when it was in power.

"When they were in power, they left behind no tangible projects, yet today they are busy spreading falsehoods about the government," he said.
Mvurya also announced that the government has allocated KSh 39 million for the establishment of a technical institute in Jomvu Constituency, adding that President Ruto had committed to ensuring all development projects in the area are completed.

"The President has asked me to assure you that all development projects in Jomvu will be completed," he said.

His remarks were echoed by Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, who said President Ruto had made significant progress in resolving long-standing land ownership challenges in the Coast region.

"We have seen thousands of title deeds issued to our people. We reaffirm our support for the broad-based government," said the governor.

Jomvu MP Badi Twalib also thanked President Ruto for initiating several development projects in the constituency, saying many had been started during his tenure as Deputy President.

Parliament Liaison Committee Meets in Mombasa to Clear Legislative Backlog

The Parliamentary Liaison Committee is meeting in Mombasa to fast-track key House business as Parliament enters its final year before adjourning for the 2027 General Election. Led by Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss, the lawmakers are seeking to accelerate key legislation, budget matters and committee work ahead of the elections. Boss said the committee is reviewing unfinished business and exploring ways of ensuring that critical matters are completed before Parliament adjourns in June 2027. She added that Parliament is also considering whether additional Accounts Committees may be necessary to speed up the scrutiny of government expenditure and clear the existing backlog. “We have been able to align our activities, which is why we meet yearly as a Liaison Committee. Government Urged to End Abductions Across the Country

Center for Litigation Trust (CFLT) has condemned the recent abduction of Standard group Editor Alex Kiprotich. The  independent Pan-African public interest law center emphasized the need for Journalists to be protected to be able to perform their duties.  The Trust's Executive Director Mr. Julius Ogogoh further demanded the government to issue a public statement rejecting forced dissapearance and abductions.
