Kombani Youth and Mombasa Sports Advance to Sisi Ni Dola Cup Round of 16

Kombani Youth FC and Mombasa Sports have advanced to the Round of 16 of the Sisi Ni Dola Super Cup competition.

Mombasa Sports secured their place after beating Wanderers 2-1 in Saturday's match played at Mombasa Sports Club.

Sudi Maurice of Mombasa Sports was named the Man of the Match.

The club is, however, wary of Good Hope FC, whom it will face in the Round of 16, according to captain Mohamed Madigi.
"They will be our main challengers. They have the exuberance of youth, while we have experience. We shall contain them," he said.

Kombani Youth advanced after a narrow 2-1 win over Mtwapa All Stars. Kombani had earlier conceded an own goal before bouncing back to claim victory.

The club's assistant coach, Juma Zani, praised his players for their resilience despite being engaged in another tournament.
"We fielded our second eleven because we are also participating in another tournament. However, the second eleven is, as always in football, just as good as the first eleven," said Zani.

The ultimate winner will take home Ksh 2 million.

Parliament Liaison Committee Meets in Mombasa to Clear Legislative Backlog

The Parliamentary Liaison Committee is meeting in Mombasa to fast-track key House business as Parliament enters its final year before adjourning for the 2027 General Election. Led by Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss, the lawmakers are seeking to accelerate key legislation, budget matters and committee work ahead of the elections. Boss said the committee is reviewing unfinished business and exploring ways of ensuring that critical matters are completed before Parliament adjourns in June 2027. She added that Parliament is also considering whether additional Accounts Committees may be necessary to speed up the scrutiny of government expenditure and clear the existing backlog. “We have been able to align our activities, which is why we meet yearly as a Liaison Committee. Government Urged to End Abductions Across the Country

Center for Litigation Trust (CFLT) has condemned the recent abduction of Standard group Editor Alex Kiprotich. The  independent Pan-African public interest law center emphasized the need for Journalists to be protected to be able to perform their duties.  The Trust's Executive Director Mr. Julius Ogogoh further demanded the government to issue a public statement rejecting forced dissapearance and abductions.
