Rashid Abdallah Super Cup Expands to 44 Teams


The draw for the 7th edition of the Rashid Abdalla Super Cup was held in Kwale County on Tuesday, with 44 teams officially confirmed for the tournament.

Organizers said this year's competition has recorded significant growth, with the number of participating teams increasing from 32 in the sixth edition to 44.

Speaking during the draw, tournament founder Rashid Abdalla said the competition continues to expand in line with global football trends.

"We follow the FIFA World Cup format. Previously, the World Cup had 32 participating teams and now it has expanded to 48. Similarly, we have increased the number of teams in our tournament to 44," he said.

Abdalla announced that the winner of this year's tournament will receive a cash prize of KSh 2.5 million and a fully sponsored trip to Nairobi.

He also appealed to corporate organizations and well-wishers to support the competition by sponsoring teams.

"It is not a must for sponsors to give us money. Companies can support teams in various ways, including providing kits, transport, or other logistical support," he said.

The tournament is scheduled to run from July 11 to December 20, 2026.

On his part, Kwale County FKF Branch chairman Hamisi Mwakoja has implode the young players to take advantage of the tournament to showcase their talents.

" Discipline and football go hand in hand, so in your aspirations, ensure you use this opportunity well", he said.

Now in its 7th year, the Rashid Abdallah Super Cup has experienced tremendous growth, attracting increased participation from teams, sponsors, and corporate partners, making it one of the region's most prominent grassroots football competitions.

Parliament Liaison Committee Meets in Mombasa to Clear Legislative Backlog

The Parliamentary Liaison Committee is meeting in Mombasa to fast-track key House business as Parliament enters its final year before adjourning for the 2027 General Election. Government Urged to End Abductions Across the Country

Center for Litigation Trust (CFLT) has condemned the recent abduction of Standard group Editor Alex Kiprotich. The  independent Pan-African public interest law center emphasized the need for Journalists to be protected to be able to perform their duties.  The Trust's Executive Director Mr. Julius Ogogoh further demanded the government to issue a public statement rejecting forced dissapearance and abductions.
