Mombasa County to Buy Buses for Sports Teams

Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sharrif Nassir has pledged to purchase buses for various sports teams in Mombasa.

Speaking at a youth event, Nassir said the initiative aims to ease challenges faced by the teams, such as financial constraints and transport issues.

Nassir noted that he has directed the Mombasa County Assembly to pass a motion for the purchase of the buses within the current term.

He also instructed the county’s Department of Youth and Sports to establish a clear framework on how the buses will be managed and serve residents.

“We don’t want to buy buses that later stall; we need to come up with a concrete plan to ensure the sustainability of those buses for the benefit of our youth,” said Nassir.

The Governor further pledged that the county government will build more stadiums to take advantage of the upcoming AFCON 2027 tournament, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
