Heavy Commercial Trailers Banned from Mombasa-Malindi Highway
If you are driving a heavy commercial vehicle weighing 10 tons, you will be restricted from using the Mombasa-Malindi highway.
This follows an announcement by the Mombasa County temporarily restricting heavy commercial vehicles during peak hours.
In a gazette notice,the county observes that heavy snarl up along the way has disrupted flow of traffic.
Mombasa County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for transport Dan Manyala, says the directive takes effect from 3rd April, 2026 to 1st July, 2026 during peak hours ranging from 6am to 9.30 am and from 3.30pm to 8pm.
Manyala said the heavy commercial vehicles will now use alternative roads such as Fidel Odinga and Link roads towards Nyali and Old Mombasa road.
